Redefining Success

How do you define success? Most of us believe that success is external, the things we can see that produce results that tend to make money. We are inundated that to be successful one has to have lots of business success which essentially means making a lot of money.

I would like to offer a different view of success. One in which it is our internal alignment of our energy where we are at ease with who we are no matter our external circumstances. My definition for success is to always (or as consistently as possible) be in a place of joy, love, peace and harmony (or higher consciousness) within myself.

What does that look like? That means that I love myself unconditionally without fear or regrets and I look upon others with that same level of love that we are all one doing our best in every moment regardless of any external success. We have all seen people who appear to be highly successful on the outside who are beyond miserable on the inside, hence unfortunate suicides when they have such beautiful life to give. Why as a society do we keep catering to the external as a factor for success?

We need to redefine success. This means taking radical responsibility for our thoughts, our feelings, and our actions. I believe that we attract to our life how we feel about ourselves so that we can learn what we need, to simply love ourselves.

Isn’t it wonderful to meet people who simply know who they are unapologetically and yet extend an unconditional loving kindness to others? We feel so amazing in their presence. That feeling is simply a sense of love. We feel the love they have for themselves and for others. Why do we need to water that down with judgements of external success?

What is more powerful and successful than each of us unconditionally loving ourselves and seeing the pure love of light (consciousness) in everyone else? How different would our world be and act when we let the pretense of power and control be overrun with caring, kindness, compassion and love (or higher consciousness) for one another. We would collectively have greater joy, innovation, peace, co-creation, harmony, collaboration and then we could make the greatest conscious difference as a global community.

How are you doing your inner work to shed the past, release the guilt, forgive yourself and others, so that you can truly love and accept every part of your being, and I mean all of it?!

As you read this, you may want to compare your journey with others, but comparison is the absolute thief of any joy you can have about your own journey. I’m happy to share my journey, but what I have learned is that it is completely unique from others. My timeline is my own and the more I compared where I was with others, the more judgement I gave to it which lowered my energy which attracted lower energy into my life.

As I have been drawn to different teachings, tools, practices healers, therapists, coaches, friends and family, I have learned that to have a strong support network of people who truly want the best for you, is what is needed while you are on your healing/loving journey. Challenges will arise as lessons to be learned and when we become highly self-aware, we can make quantum changes that you would not think possible.

As I sit here, I am grateful for all that I have, for all the difficult people that have shown up in my life which are simply mirrors to my subconscious (which have been a lot) for me to learn what I needed to learn, for all the amazing people who have loved me unconditionally (which have been few) to show me what is possible, and for exactly who was, who I am and who I am becoming. We are all perfect exactly as we are and we are all beautifully imperfect as follow our path.

The greatest key to all of this is listening to what your heart really wants for yourself and letting go of the mindless thoughts that get in the way of being heart-focused. Self-awareness is key and learning to love yourself may be the greatest challenge in our individual lives. Just realize that external success may be easy or difficult depending on your perspective and may be the focus of society, but how we treat ourselves and others is the greatest gift that I believe redefines how we look at success.

How do you want to redefine what success looks like for you?

Do you want to release the fears that hold you back to step into the most authentic version of yourself in every aspect of your life?  If you are on the journey of self-discovery to redefine what success means to you and are seeking coaching along your path, I would be honored to be your thought partner.  Know that success for me in coaching means that I am just the conduit to help you gain clarity and insight that is only meant for you.  As we each show-up as our unique authentic selves, we make the greatest impact towards a healthy collective consciousness.
